What is LACES BIG EAT?

What is LACES BIG EAT?

The BIG EAT is simple.

On Thursday April 9 there will be five restaurants in Los Angeles dedicated to fundraising for our school.   Meaning, you and your family show up, enjoy a great meal and they will give a portion of the proceeds to Friends of LACES.

In the past we have had restaurants dedicated to family dinner nights but for many people if the location is too far it is hard to get there.   So, we went all over the city to find restaurants convenient to many of our families.

What are the restaurants?

Pizza Rev in Mid City.

Ono's Hawaiian BBQ in South Gate

Souplantation in Westchester

 PitFire Pizza in Westwood

Souplantation in Beverly Connection

Who is attending?
Big EAT is an ALL LACES event.  Both Middle & High School families are invited.

Where are the flyers?
Click on the links and it will take you to the information about each restaurant and there is a flyer you can download and print.

Who gets the fundraising profits?
FOL will get the funds however we are dedicating 50% of BIG EAT proceeds to help offset graduation activities expenses for the class of 2015.

Why are we doing BIG EAT?
Yes we love to bring in fundraising dollars to FOL and LACES. But we also know that we benefit whenever we build up our community.

Many of us drop off our kid at LACES or at bus stops and in truth feel a wee bit disconnected from the community.   When our kids were in elementary school it was easy to get to know one another. It just sort of happened.   Now all our families are spread out farther and of course our kids are older and don't need as much 'hand holding.'   But at the end of the day a lot of us just wish we knew a few more people.  Or at the very least it would be nice to meet our kids' friends and their families.

We hope that LACES Big Eat can begin to forge a new community building night and ideally we will have two Big Eats a year.  One in the spring and one in the fall.  And it would be nice to always dedicate a portion to our senior classes.   Afterall it takes a village to build a graduation class!

Can I invite someone special like one of my kid's teacher or a staffer?
Sure why not?  Send  a note and say, "Hey, let me treat you to dinner.  Join us at..."

One more thing....
A lot of our high school parents are probably feeling a little removed from their almost-grown-up kid.
Perhaps said kid is digging in and hanging out with his or her world and giving you parents a wee bit of a cold shoulder...sure, that's fine, that's what they are supposed to do.

But why don't you push back a bit and say..."Hey, let's go out to dinner on April 9th"  and you take that almost-grown-up kid and his or her buddy out to eat.   And you guys go and have a fun, cozy meal at one of the Big Eat restaurant and talk about whatever you talk about.   And then soon your kid will be out of the house in college finding their way and it will be nice for both of you to think about that warm and cozy Big Eat family dinner night way back then...when you sat at the table and talk about this and that.....

...A real dessert is a...
